I was born and raised in Puerto Rico speaking Spanish. I learned English because the Puerto Rican school system teaches it from K to 12. As a kid, I enhanced my English skills by consuming American culture in its original language: books, movies, comic books and music. Also playing Dungeons and Dragons; All this with a dictionary in hand. Yeah, I'm a bit of a nerd.

Being a fully bilingual Puerto Rican has gifted me empathy. I think it's made me more aware of idiosyncrasies in different cultures and subcultures. Empathy goes a long way when coming up with stories that have very strict time restrictions. The moment you step outside your own culture on a daily basis, it is when you start recognizing social dynamics and peculiarities that go unnoticed by most. Recognizing all these peculiarities, in me and in others, allows me to turn them into tools I can use for better communication. 

In my past life as a sound designer, I sound edited dialogue for over a thousand tv show episodes. This experience taught me that sounds and words can be as moldable as clay. I also learned that pauses are rich with meaning; they can be sculpted to add tensions, release, or intimacy. Lipsmack, pauses, inhales, exhales... Great communication is achieved by more than just words.

As a copywriter, I wrote the scripts for the "Tenemos Que Hablar" Chevy EV 2023 campaign which won the Silver D Show award of that year. I've also won BMI music awards as the main composer of the theme song of American Horror Story and as the sole composer for the theme song of Netflix's docu-series Crime Scene:The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel. 

A Sound Artist is a person who uses sound as a medium to represent ideas. Sound art can be produced in the form of music, sound design for moving images, podcast, radio, or sound art installations.
